Learn Japanese ツ - My first website

Learn Japanese ツ | Home

A while back I was trying to find a domain for a Japanese language study site ; all the good domains were taken so I changed it up a bit . Learn Nijongo !

I had bought the domain name through 1and1.com not really sure how to put any content on the site I let it sit for sometime.

A friend of mine tried showing me how to use Word Press along with an FTP program ... I only understood a little bit of what he showed me so when it was time for me to do it all on my own , I was lost !

It was like being shown a map for an instant and being thrown out to navigate the open sea. Regardless I tried! At first I felt like such a fool , I could not figure out how to work 'CuteFTP' .

I had downloaded WordPress 3.1 copied the files and folders to CuteFTP and gone to 'wp-config-sample.php' and entered information and gone to the salt site but the site would not connect. - The problem was that I did not have FTP information on my domain so I had to upgrade the site for hosting .
Once I had the FTP info I had to set up a SQL account .*note once you enter the SQL information make sure you dong copy and past the username to both 'host name and user name ' because in my case they were different by one letter and it cost me hours of trying to figure it out .

With all that done I was able to start working on the site.

It went through about 10 different changes and looks before I found one that I liked .

I had to upgrade MySQL from 4.1 to 5.o which was easy enough , all I did was call 1and1 tech support and they did it in about 1 minute . With the upgrade I was able to run the newest version of Buddy Press which has allowed me to do everything i want to do with my site from a social standpoint
